Q. How long will I be at Poinciana?
A. Your length of stay at Poinciana will depend on many factors i.e. type of substance dependency; length of dependency; coexisting medical conditions etc.
Q. Is Poinciana a medical facility?
A. Yes. Poinciana is a full service medical facility. Located within Columbia Hospital, Poinciana allows you access to medical professionals. You may if you wish receive a full medical overview from our doctors. Recommendations and referrals can be provided. Psychiatric doctors are also available to you during your visit.
Q. What should I bring with me?
A. You can bring anything that you feel you need to make your stay comfortable. We suggest you bring comfortable loose fitting clothing; personal hygiene items etc. We ask that you not bring any alcohol or illegal substances. You should bring any prescription medications with you these medications will be reviewed by our physician and dispensed to you by our staff while you are at Poinciana. You should also bring some cash if you wish to access any of our concierge services i.e. hairdresser; massage therapy; nail techs etc. All of your dietary needs will be provided by our Executive Chef.
Q. What can I expect when I arrive at Poinciana?
A. You can expect to be greeted with dignity and respect by a courteous and friendly staff. You will be assigned to one of our private suites. Although our suites resemble a luxury hotel they are fully equipped to handle any medical situation which might arise. You will be evaluated by a nurse and any medications necessary will be started. You will receive a complete medical evaluation and consultation with our physician.
Q. Will I be asked to attend group therapy or individual counseling?
A. Poinciana is a medical detoxification program. Our primary objective is to relieve the patient of physical substance dependency safely and comfortably. Group or individual therapy is not a requirement, however if you would like we can provide these services.
Q. Are counselors available during my stay?
A. Yes. If you wish an individual counselor will be assigned to you. Our counselors are trained to treat you with compassion and respect while maintaining the utmost in personal privacy and anonymity. Your counselor will not only help you through detox, they will also help you develop an after care plan.
Q. I have a high profile job. How can you guarantee my anonymity and privacy?
A. Poinciana at Palm Beach is it’s own entity. We are not part of a rehab or within a hospital. Our facility is separate from Columbia Hospital and each patient has their own private room. The staff members who work at Poinciana are specifically trained to keep anonymity a top priority. In addition all entrances to Poinciana are secured and private escorts to and from the facility are provided upon requests. Q. I need help with my drug addiction beyond detox, how can Poinciana help me?
A. Your long term success depends strongly on the aftercare program that you and your counselor at Poinciana will develop together.
